A new ski instructor with some fun new games and drills

this week at confederation park students were introduced to some new techniques. Balance and enthusiasm were the focus to enhance their stride and power in the push off phase. They certainly are showing progress and more confidence in skis! This will go a long way when we hit the trails at the Nordic Center next Friday!

Uphill double polling...not easy 🥵

Day 1 Biathlon

Thursday was our first chance to try out the laser riffles used in biathlon training. Students were very excited to test out their accuracy and of course get into a friendly competition. They formed groups to see which team could be the first to 10 targets! Our all girls team was on point and came away with the victory 🎯🏆 Everyone is looking forward to our next session which will hopefully test their cardiovascular systems, as well as their recovery and mental focus.

First day Cross Country Skiing

We had a great first day of xcountry skiing at Confederation Park today. The weather was perfect and everyone was full of smiles. We have 5 more session of both skiing and biathlon to continue to find confidence and a new style of cross training... might as well take advantage of our looooong winters!

CSI sustainability testing

Students had the opportunity to retake the sustainability test from last year. Our students were asked to perform at a constant cadence at their predicted max watts, based on their previous beep test results. They each pushed themselves to new levels of exertion and lived to tell the tale 🥵😆 This is the lab where many of our Olympic level athletes have been tested and trained towards the fine tuned machines that represent our country 🇨🇦
We have some very talented and mentally tough athletes in our class and these opportunities really demonstrate their amazing abilities and determination!
